GAIN EXPERIENCE.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
SEE THE WORLD.

Design & deliver a hands-on, personalised Internship in Murals & Community Arts to improve your resume and gain real-world experience, while making a real difference to rural communities in the majestic Ecuadorian Andes.

Help indigenous communities build pride in their cultural identity through creative workshops & artworks.

The indigenous communities surrounding Atandahua have few opportunities and resources. Children study in dilapidated schools and receive very basic education with minimal creative expression or cultural reinforcement. This affects their personal and cultural identity, many do not see a future beyond what they see around them.

Art has the power to bring communities together, build confidence and transferrable skills, and transform communal spaces into vibrant hubs with powerful symbology that can change how people feel about themselves. We're looking for passionate interns who can work with children and community groups to design and implement arts programmes which result in community-wise impacts that can be a stepping stone to a better life.

Cultural Exchange Event Ecuador Andes

Our stay with El Terreno was so far beyond my expectations. They - and their entire community in Atandahua - embraced us and shared their music, dancing, food, stories, adventures, and work. It is a truly special place.

The team are kind, organized, communicative, and inspiring. The work is fun and very fair, the accommodations are comfortable, the community and the group of volunteers is lovely and easy to build friendships within. I highly recommend this project to anyone looking to experience this region in a real way, and to become immersed in a small, hard-working community with a beautiful vision for the future. I will be thinking about all that I learned here for a long time.

Imagine waking up to the cockerels at dawn as the sun rises over the horizon as you take in Chimborazo volcano over your morning coffee. After breakfast, walk down to meet your mentor, stopping to say hello to the friendly neighbours in the community as they take their cows to pasture.

Then, take the bus with your supervisor to one of the five communities where you delivering your project. Meet with the teachers, see the space and plan your activities. Have lunch with the rest of the team and workers from the local community, sharing stories and learning about the local culture.

In the afternoon you will deliver your activities in the rural community. Work with a class size you feel comfortable with and build your experience and confidence. Build meaningful relationships with the locals who are keen to get to know you.
